JROD,
I have a seat for you setting in my garage. Did you say it would be OK to lose the sliders, or no?? If you can get by with a direct mount check out this seat:
http://www.racetechseatsna.com/race_seats/RT9009.html
It is the RT-4009. It is taller so the shoulder straps are at the right level, and it's pretty wide. I wear 40" size pants and this would be OK for me for anything under 1hour of driving. I think it would be perfect for you. It has real memory foam padding. I was going to run it solid mount this year, but I have a shorter co-driver for the season so I had to retain my sliders. It may be possible to fit this with the proper sliders, but it won't fit with Buddy Club sliders. The head restraint hits the top of the B-pillar . . .
It's an expensive seat, but I could work out a good deal for you !!

I actually bought some lowering brackets for my stock seats for the time being until I can get my seating issue/options resolved. Thanks for all your input thus far guys it truly is appreciated and I see I have alot to think about.

YES I do have the Corbeaus... Blue CR-1s, wide version, they are fantastic
http://www.corbeau.com/products/cr1/cr1.shtml linky to pics on their website.
Jarod: you might want to check them out. Wide version fit fine on my butt when it was 40" ( I lost 35 pounds so I fit very loosely now :-))
If you need pics or shots of headroom then pm me

If you have an evo, you shouldnt go cheap on the seats. Corbeaus are a little cheap and wouldn't go with the car in my opinion.
I am selling these seats on here. PM me if there is anyone interested.

this is a nice setup...i have a set of harnesses and i dont really want to get a harness bar because i might have passengers in the rear and thats dangerous...is it safe to drive on the street and anchor them like that? and if so where do they get anchored?

buddyclub LARGE size. im a pretty wide guy, about 36" waist and i fit perfect! still have room for the nads. only thing is that its probably too short for u tall people, cause im only 5'8". but ive seen my taller friends get in it and their shoulders r above the harness slots..
