Me, a Mazdaspeed RX-8, and a 997 TT....
I did some work on this guys new '07 Porsche 997 Turbo and decided to make it an informal photoshoot....

I have some pretty good hi-res shots of the TT that I will prolly post in 'other cars'!
I must say that his car is the shizzle.....custom factory painted interior, Carbon-ceramic brakes, etc....

Tiptronic is faster than manual in acceleration b/c the computer can shift so much more cleanly and smoother than any human...
actually, the launch control preloads the turbo...
But I agree, whats the fun in that?

He an I had a talk about the Tip vs Manual choice and the salesman at the dealer and some other TT owners on a Porsche board said its easier to drive and will shift faster then you ever could. He's owned 2 other Porsches and they were both manual and was worried about the Tiptronic, but in the end he feels like it was a better choice!
The Tiptronic may be faster but it takes away from the sports car feel IMO. I always feel very disconnected when I drive a car with a auto tranny. All beautiful cars though.
I don't have a problem with the tiptronic from a shifting speed standpoint. Its just that its running gear robs a lot more power from the engine than a conventional manual.
Doesn't matter, though. Its still a lot better car than I can comfortably afford.
