either way, if u wanna strip the paint off something small like that, u can sand it off or try some paint striper if u wanna. that paint on theres pretty light, so light sandins probably good, than buy a can of spray paint, and spray it.

I would imagine removing the mesh would be as simple as unclipping the vent from the underside.

Remove mesh and soak in paint thinner for about 24 hours. Rinse, dry and spray with high temp paint of your choice.

My louvered plate is going to get repainted by me this weekend. My hood mesh is fine but the mesh on the front bumper is killed. I am subscribing too because when I finally remove the front bumper to take off the mesh and paint it, it would be nice to first strip it so it comes out perfect and one even surface.

scuff it down with a scuff pad and paint it. you do not need to remove all the paint.

Used a small wire brush set from depot to remove as much of the chipped paint as possible then sprayed with high temp VHT engine paint...looks like new.

Combine these two pieces of advice and ur problem is solved. Get as much paint as you can off with wire brush and scuff pad (don't need to get it all just give it s good scuffing), clean well and paint with plasti-dip. I've used it on both hood mesh and front grill mesh and haven't lost a chip yet. Hood mesh will come right out...a few nuts and clips hold it in place.

With temps from the engine bay hitting it directly its a good idea to use high temp paint just in case, i used black caliper paint. Im happy with it.
