I think he means runs a 9.5 but with a lower offset. That would work, but it would make the tire centerline move out more, and the sidewall would bulge more. It would make life more difficult

here is a side profile the best I can get. Trust me the tire still sticks out past the lip of the wheel. It is not stretched as people have suggested. this width of wheel falls in the manufactures suggested width for mounting a 255/35 to a 10" wide wheel.





Above is a 255 tire on a 10" wide rim...with protection
now Here is a 10" wide wheel where the lip sits outside a 285 tire.

 

ya.. i have 255 tires on my stock bbs evo 9 wheels. lol
