First Generation Evo (pics)
Here are a few recent pics of under the hood. Still have a bit yet to do like tubular manifold etc, but so far I think it is coming along nicely. The space next to the battery is where the oil catch can will go. Not too bad for a 14 year old car IMO

Since you were saying in the begining about how you have the exhaust manifold cover looking like crap, if you put it on a polishing wheel it will shine right up. I think the steel used has nickel or something in it but it will come out really shiny like your piping. Also it looks to be the same cover used on the old 1G's. Just my $0.02 for a cheap fix before you get your headers.

Thanks for the reply!
The problem with the original cover is where it is rusted so bad, the bolts drop right through the holes where they are supposed to hold the heat shield on. Only one bolt can catch without using a big washer. I wanted a tubular manifold anyways to free up a bit more power which is why I bought the stainless steel stud kit to replace the factory manifold bolts as they are rusted as well. I'm planning on changing it all under there including the o2 housing

I had to remove the turbo from the car today after a bolt broke in the housing while changing the dump pipe (O2 housing) and found out that the car has a Big 16G in it rather than the regular 16G that comes in the Evo I. The car is apart now as I have to get the bolt drilled out and the hole re-tapped, but hopefully I'll have it back up and running for the weekend

krish,
This has been a long time coming but it is quite possible that this IS an Evo III. Evo 1-3 all had CE9A as chassis number.
I was looking at a wreck of a III here and funny enough that CE9A under the hood jumped out at me and I remembered this thread. Also the corner lights in the Evo III are orange like yours while mine on the 2 are a clearer color.

Thanks for the reply man...The chasis number on the car is CD9A which means Evo I. It's etched in there from the factory as well. Hopefully I get thing back on the road tomorrow. I have so much work right now that Imay have to get someone else to do it
Just a small update... I got this Greddy oil catch can and hope to install it tomorrow so I will update some pics afterwards http://www.extremepsi.com/store/cust...cat=731&page=1 Also, I ordered this heat shield today to replace the rusted one I have now
