I'm pretty sure it's the same. And since I've owned both a TB '05 VIII and now own a TB IX I've got a pretty good idea.

Only odd thing is, on my '05 the color is called 'Tarmac Black' and on the '06 it's referred to as 'Labrador Black Pearl' on the window sticker. But other places it's still called 'Tarmac Black'.

But also, when I went to order a paint pen at the dealer (which is crap BTW), the paint code is the same.

 

my 05' is labrabor black

 

labrador black = tarmac black

I had an 03 TB EVo VIII and the paint was totally different from my Evo IX SE black.

 

All the blacks are the same...the names are different on the touch up paint pens, but the code is quite identicle.


I've had a 2003 and now a 2006, both black....they are identicle my friends!

 

Hmm my 03 Evo VIII was just black as oppose to my Evo IX SE it's black with that purple hue sparkle glitter stuff.

Is it just maybe the Black IX SE models have the glitter???

 

I have an 03 with a 05 rear bumper (little accident), same color.

 

Nope the 2003 has the same metallic flake...your 03 was just so swirled you couldn't see it. Itoo thought it was a regular black when I pickked it up...after I detailed the car, I noticed the flake and was shocked that everyone always took such crappy pics/took bad care of the car on the forums since that's what led me to believe the color was not metallic.

 

I have an 06 and there is a purple metallic in it
