You guys are all missing the biggest point!
Yeah, Nils' car is nice, esp with Robi's tender/soft/moist(
) hands fondling it on a regular basis.
What none of you have mentioned is that Nils has 200lbs of talent packed into his 100lb body! As nice as his car is, (and it is nice), dont forget that it is just a pretty chunk of metal without Nils' own personal tender/soft/moist hands at the controls. I give that car about 25% credit with Nils' skills (hey, that rhymes) deserving the other 75%. Credit where credit is due!
As for Porsche guy, I worked for Playboy Nissan this past year in Grand Am and our N/A cars cost $150k for the GS class car and $300k for the GT class car (we have 2 of each). Add the $100k per race weekend costs and you can see that we are talking some serious $$$. Critisizing any of our privately funded cars that are probably less than $60k total including the initial cost is simply retarded, esp when lap times are likely comparable to what your Porsche can do, with or without custom suspension/control arms.
Furthermore, how many of you "Porschephiles" would be as tolerant as these guys have been with you if someone was attacking you/your beloved car on a porsche forum?

well actually i think you missed my point
and im no where near a "porschephile"...in fact working on them has only made me dislike them more :P
i already said it wasnt supposed to be critisizing as much as questioning
when it really comes down to it, theres always a better setup/faster car...and if you did work on GAC cars, then you know the expensive part of a race suspension isnt in the parts, its in the engineering, so using cost in that instance doesnt really fly as an excuse
but to clear up a few things, depending on the track the times you were referring to MAY be in the same ballbark, but somewhere like daytona or watkins glen, theres no way a street/track car would even come close
I'm not familiar with many of the west coast tracks as far as times go, so i dont have anything to use as comparison as far as that goes...if Nils ever comes over to the east coast to run, id definitely like to come out and watch though
