what tire was originally on there? looks like 245/45 which is a tall tire. 235/45 or 255/40 is usually best

For that width... 255/40/17... Most shops around here would refuse to mount a 235 as it is WAY too narrow for a 9" wide wheel. I doubt manufacturers would warranty such a stretch either.

However, PM coming your way for pics...

great point. manufacturers usually has a min/max width for their tires, so just i think if people just stay w/in those guidelines they should be ok w/ the warranty issue.

Why not just roll the rear fenders?

They only rub when the car is turned to an extreme. I ordered 235s now...and I was told by SubyDude this is the smallest size that'll fit on a 9" wide wheel. Plus it's better because these are snow tires and here in PA I need to be able to pack some snow.

I'm calling TireRack in about 20 minutes so I'll let you know what they say..

Has anyone tried 245/40/17?? I would think 245/40/17 is a little wide enough for the 9" wheel and short enough not to rub.

Hope this helps anyone!

235/45/17 = 25.32" height
245/40/17 = 24.71" height
255/40/17 = 25.03" height

Yea, lot of people do the 235's on a 9" wide wheel, there have been a couple people on this forum who stretched 235's on 9.5" wheels too

245/40/17 would be the ideal size, 245/45/17 is a little tall

I stand corrected. 9" is the maximum stated width for most 235's in our fitment... however stretched they may be...

What would be the advantage of a 245/40/17 compared to a 255/40/17?

I thought/would think the 255 would be better for performance and grip....are you guys all saying the 245 is the "ideal" size MEANING its the ideal size for the reason they dont rub compared to the 255s?

245/40 is just a bit shorter so rubbing will be less of an issue without fender mods

why are u guys so scared of rubbing and rolling fenders? sometimes, if you want to look good, you just have to knife it, nip tuck it or do whatever to make it FIT!! just roll the ******* fenders. sheesh :lo:

its a performance car.. if you ain't rubbing, you ain't doing it right!

just like CEL lights..if you ain't got them, you are not fast enough!

high offset wheels FTMFL!!

Stretch those 235s, 245s on 9" and 9.5" FTMFW!
