245/40/17s is wayy shorter than 235/45/17s .. i have seen people went this route and they have a big ole gap between tires/fenders. pretty ugly sight.

245/45/17s is a much better choice on 8.5" or 9"

or go with 255/40/17s on a 9"..but i prefer the look of 255s on 9.5" ..

ive seen 255s on a 8.5" wide rim and they look fine.....so personally i think they would look okay on only a half inch wider rim..

Well you have a major issue if you buy tires base on how they look

what issue might that be?

so you are saying I have issue too since I run 265s on 10.5" ?? Yes I went with 265s on 10.5s because it looks better

Kinda like 255s (what I run) and larger on the Evos aesthetically myself

you're aesthetic reasoning is a little better than his, which has to do with wheel gap

Perhaps I'm more of a traditionalist =P

I know its not an EVO but just thought I would post a picture of the 18x9.5 with a 245/40/18, you can see its not much of a stretch. A 235/45/17 would look very similar but with a larger sidewall on a 17x9. The sidewall is barely tilted inward. This was done on purpose because the fibeglass fenders couldn't be rolled for more clearance. Subydude is a great seller and very fast. I am very happy with these wheels. I actually went from Volks to these and still feel I made the right choice. With the offest these come in for the EVO I would go 255/40/17 for sure and if you want to be conservative the 245/40/17 is a very nice tire. The 245/45/17 is too tall, I had those before on my Volks and did not like the way they handled, although for straight line traction a taller sidewall is better then a wide tire. Just something to consider if you are more into drag racing.

Thats a funny coincidence!

I have the same Volks you have above...the gramlight 57s ....and im about to get the OTHER rims you have above, the P45Rs! My volks were gold when i got them new, but i had em powdercoated black and then did a red lip myself for the time attack style. The volk 57s look much better in red/black thatn gold in my opinion. I wish i had gotten them in bronze instead of gold when i originally purchased them
