So a while back I switched out my Evo 9 tail lights with some Evo 7 ones because I really hate the fast and furious look that clear / chrome tail lights give off. Sadly, the Evo 7 tails also have a flaw: They're pink.

I called EvoDave and told him of my dilemma. He felt certain that he could make some Evo 7 style lights that would look a proper red color out of the Evo 9 lights. After sending him my old lights, here's what I got.

In the first three pics, the light on the driver's side is EvoDave's light. The one on the passenger's side is an OEM Evo 7 light.








Next, here are some 45 degree and 90 degree close-up shots of both.










And I know that you're probably going to say that the lighting and shadowing is causing this to look so extreme, but here's one final pic that will help you see the light. The pink light, that is.




Yes, my car is dirty and the mud flaps are ugly. It's winter time here in Chicago.

If you've been debating getting the Evo 7 tails, maybe this will help you save a little cash and a lot of headache.

In closing, I'd like to say thanks to EvoDave for some damn fine looking lights.

 

Only thing thats bad is when you reverse its pink =p

 

I do like the light that evodave did better. What color red paint did he use?

 

i like the ix taillights better...smoked dark....i don't like the chrome on the viii's though

 

The Evo 7 lights are pink in reverse as well.

 

evo 7 lights will always be better cause they are original... your new one's look good anyways

 

its just a red tint over the light. I have absolutly no problem with my VII's and i honeslty dont think yours look "pink" as you say. But hey. tint is way cheaper then actual VII's. good job to EvoDave.

EvoDave didn't "tint" the lights. He painted them.

 

Evo daves look better especially for the price. Glad you like them.

 

Sometimes it's not about how much things cost. Sometimes it's about not wanting to be a guy driving a car with pink lights.

I had my light tinted red for almost a year. I liked the look but couldn't stand reversing at night so I took the tint off.

 

here is an evodave outer red lense, gloss black inside and led's by me. Dave's evo 7 style are great.

 

If the Evo 7 tails are gonna look pink on any color it'll be red. I had them on my red Evo for over 3 years and never had one person say they were pink.

Both look good. BTW, what you do with the Evo 7 tails?
