I clean my engine bay every once in a while. I cover the intake, the alternator and the batery and spray the rest down. Ive never had a problem spraying it off with the hose. Just dont do it when the engine is hot. Always when its cold that way you are not taking different metals and hoses and heating them all up but then coooling them down at different speeds. The chance is slim to none for warping, but you can never be too sure. I dont spray anything on it to make it shiny after im done. Some people like the wet look in their engine bay like their tires. That just makes the surfaces oily and in turn collects dirt.
