Cleaning Engine Bay.

I went to the http://www.detailersdomain.com and watched the video on this. Has anyone tried this successfully? They warned us that it may hurt the sensors on it. Or does anyone have a different way of cleaning the engine bay?

I bought that Gunk engine bright, put a bag over my battery and filter, sprayed the whole engine and rinsed it. No problems, that was a while ago too.

i've heard of spraying 409 in the engine compartment...let it sit a few minutes then spray it off with water.....just put something like a cloth in the air intake and avoid spraying water into it and it works fine

A lot of people use simple green, I just use a cloth and water and a lot of elbow grease. I am a little skeptical of just taking a hose to the engine bay like some people do.

I have used the same method as the supra forums...

Just use the Degreasser three times and then dry the engine wipping excess water after the final rinse...

In the end apply the whole can of engine detailer and let it sit for a while (like 1 to 1.5 hours) then with a clean rag wipe off the and spread the detailer over areas that were missed. Also wipe the hoses and make the detailer uniform on them.

My cleaning usually lasted a couple of months

I use simple green and it works fine. Put a bag over my intake and sprayed the whole engine, and lightly on the electrical components.

The only thing was, I went to move the car after I put the bag on the intake, and forgot! DOH! That made for the car not turning on twice and I instanly figured it out.... and left a bit of a crumpled up SRI intake. Nothing my hand couldn't fix. But a stupid mistake that wont happen again!

I'll post a better pic tomorrow!

After I put the generic brand Armor All from Discount Auto Parts all over lightly, then directly onto a cloth and got just about every hose under the hood, or any black plastic for that matter.

Looks amazing.

As long as you dont soak the valve cover area where the spark plugs are, and the intake theres no difference in taking a hose to the engine bay.

Our Evo's have a huge *** grill on the hood that lets out hot air but also lets in water. If you do it right - shouldnt harm anything, just cover the intake with a plastic bag and dont soak the fuse boxes or anything electrical just get the dirty aluminum and steel parts that are dirty.
