Unhappy Spoiler hitting the antenna?

One observation about the Evo. It seems that getting the carbon fiber big spoiler is obligatory for this car. However, every Evo seems to suffer from the fact that when the trunk is fully raised, the top of the spoiler rubs against the antenna. Are there any long-term concerns about this causing damage to the spoiler? I suppose one simple fix would be the remove the antenna but that would ruin radio reception. Are there different antenna options available?

You could exchange your stock antenna for an S2000 antenna which is much shorter. It's a direct replacement, no modifications needed. The cost is somewhere around 20 to 30 bucks. Search around there's pics of S2000 antennas on Evo's around here.

EDIT: Here's some pics:

That's odd. My stock antenna doesn't touch the spoiler when it was fully raised. At first I thought it did but it didn't.

Yep, get the S2K antenna. I got mine for free since I took it off from my old car.

That's great! I can take the antenna of my old car. It's got the antenna built into the back windshield

Seriously though, the S2000 antenna swap sounds like exactly what I'm looking for.

Hey smartass - read IS2000's car list - he owned an S2000 before the Evo...

No wonder your antenna hits your wing and you can't figure it out....

I checked my car tonight. My spoiler does not hit my antenna. I have the stock antenna and CF spoiler. About 1 inch between the two when fully opened.

any mods on this one besides the shorter antenna? with the MR zero lift package and wicker bill extension, it is even worse as it gets caught in it as you open the rear trunk.

huh? thats one of the first things i checked when i got it home. I was worried about the same thing - the antenna getting cought on the wicker bill, but my antenna clears the wing by at least an inch.

word of caution: i don't know how often evo owners get their S2000 antenna's taken away but Celica owners replace theirs all the time because its too easily stolen from their cars

i've already got mine nabbed from my car. just a twist and run.
