Lowered Stock Recaro Seat

After sitting in the "high-boy" style stock Recaro for a few too many track days I decided I was going to do something about the stinky seating position Mitsu gave us.

I built some brackets to drop the stock seat 1.5 inches and put the driver in the position they belong in. Makes for a much improved driving feel at the track and daily driving - and gives that low race seat look without the race seat $$.

The difference in height, drivers has the drop brackets.

What the brackets look like.

I put the more info link in the first post, although it is in my signature also.

These are made from .125" thick mild steel, the stock parts are only .080" thick mild steel. So the base material is stronger. The geometry of the dropped brackets also drastically increases strength as the load from an incident will be along the long axis of the brackets putting them in nearly pure tension or compression. The stock brackets have a lot of bends which create moments, torque and more problematic loading. That's the toned down engineer response, I'm an engineer.

The simple answer is they are stronger than stock.
