It appears that dynoing on the road is at least safer on your lungs - - while it does have a greater risk of crashing
Interesting results - 260 wheel hp on that dyno must equal 300 on a real dyno - not bad with a stock intercooler - I wonder if that was with the indexed cams ?

How much hp does your vishnu stage 1 make with no cat
?

To my understanding the graphs of the stage 1 car your talking about is running stock boost and with boost control feature enabled, correct?
I forgot to ask. Why are the evo's making more hp now? From 180 to 210? How many miles do they have?

Not sure what planet some of you come from.
Anyway, cool photos.
seems like most everyone here is only worried about going as fast as they can in a straight line, so hp is the goal...
on a racetrack you'll want to worry about low / mid range tourque, but who cares about it on the strip...
i thought the Honda guys on the drag strip were kinda ridicuolous, but the EVO boys are just as bad...

Shiv, does taking out the cat make that large of a difference over your dedicated turbo back system with the cat? I was under the impression that the newer high flow cats did not pose that large of a difference in restriction. If a larger cat, say a 4 inch cat along with 3 inch exhaust everywhere else were used would the resistance of the cat be knocked down to a 3 inch straight pipe level?

Our Stage 1 shop, which made 260whp was actually running full boost control. I suspect the difference has to do with our car having a bit over 3000 dyno pulls on it vs. 150 or so for the customer

Evos are getting bigger hp numbers since we're dyno testing them in 3rd gear like most other shops. This yeilds, on average, 10 wheel hp more than dyno testing them in 4th gear (as we used to a while back) The higher numbers are due to lower inertial and frictional losses associated with the lower roller/wheel speeds.
So... stock cars are now dyno'ing at 195-205, Stage Zero at 220-225, Stage 1 at 240-245. Add about 20 wheel hp if running a 104 octane race gas map.
Cheers

I can't really say much about the performance since I don't know his car's baseline. I've heard from Ken that factory Evos varied from 170ish to 200 stock. My friend's stock yellow Evo ran 197 consistantly. I can't wait to see what my stock will produce. Hope to meet you so I can ask you more about the WORKS upgrade in our meets.
thx,

Hey Shiv, Thanks for the dyno, and hope you'll have a great ride @ Skyline tomorrow!
Just in case if you're interested, here's some pics from the dyno day...
Thanks Brett for making all these tasty food for the dyno day!
