Hey WADADLIG_OZ,

Good to hear we have some more fellow evo 1-3 owners on these boards. Yes, there was roof rust, but also other body dings/rust which had to be sanded and fixed up. I dealth with the roof rust by grinding it out and laying thing steel sheets over the ribs.... with any luck I won't be seeing it anytime soon .

P.s. sorry for the slacking. I've been working on the car and throwing new parts on it, I'll have some more pics up soon.

I remember seeing this car up for sale on several different sites. Congrats on the purchase.

Threw up some more pics. Have a look

One of these days I'll put the decals back on, but for now I need to figure out how they're going to stick to this crazy textured paint ;p

Hello everyone, new EVO 1 owner in Canada, I would like to change the transmission and transfer case fluid. I am leaning toward Amsoil but am open to suggestions. Could someone let me know the correct fluid for each. My car did not come with a manual so I'm in the process of researching all the important disposable parts.

Thanks in advance and I will try and post some pictures soon.

Use a GL-4 Oil. AMSoil is good oil, just make sure it's 70-90 weight in the transmission. The Transfer case, and difs can use heavy shock GL-5 oils. I personally recommend Redline.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I was on the Redline website, do you use MTL or MT-90 in your transmission?

Awesome ride! I love early Evo's. So much lighter than my fat beast!

Either will work, but I'd go with MT-90 as it will hold up a bit better (that's what I used). Both are GL-4 safe for the transmission. Anything GL-5 will eat up the synchros and that's bad news (I put in GL-5 heavy shock not knowing that before someone warned me).

Bit of an update despite the lack of new pics (which will be coming as soon as I'm done with some additional engine/tuning work):

Took out the coilovers and remounted the skid plates and prepped the rally suspension. Finally got the boost gauge in and running a vacuum of -19psi. Only hitting 10psi boost right now (or so the boost gauge tells me), but the fix for that is a Turbotech MBC which I plan to run at 18psi.

Rally in Astoria, Oregon on Aug. 17th! woohoo!
