Is anyone elses steering wheel peeling?

For the last week or so the area of the steering wheel where I keep my left hand (9 o'clock) keeps peeling and flaking off on my hand. I used one of those Armor All leather wipes on it today, and it seems to have helped, but I don't think this is normal.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Mine is fine too. I use one of those window shade things to keep the sun off of my dash and steering wheel while I am parked outside.

Sweaty palms when driving?

The leather wrap on the steering wheel and shift knob started degrading on my Celica AllTrac in 100% humidity conditions ... but that was when it was a dozen years old.

Unless it's been raining inside your car, either you have dirt accumulated on the wheel that's flaking back off, or you have a warranty issue.

Leather wrapped wheels are convenient, but for the long haul I still like the varnished wood wheel of the Alfa. I've worn out three pairs of driving gloves, but the wheel is still fine. And it's a lot easier to replace driving gloves than a wheel cover.

Mine is peeling also, I have 5% tint so it's no the sunlight. I don't think my palms sweet that much. I think we should take it in for sure.

By the way I have 11,000 miles. So I would look out for those who have less then 10,000.

.. maybe when you leave ur evo in the sun.. it gets soo freaking hot that when you put ur hands on the metal part of the steering wheel, it melts ur skin.. and that peeling thing is probably just ur skin on the steering wheel, but you just assume its the steering wheel.

I park my car at work in a garage and at home as well. Mine just started peeling at 7,700 miles. I will be swinging by the dealer tomorrow to have them warranty it and order a new one.

Mine was peeling around 10K miles. I just kept wiping them w/ leather wipes till they were pretty much finished peeling where my hands go. I guess I should have warranteed it when it was still under warranty. That and the sticky heater control. And the paint chips. And the rattles. LOL
