I should never have opened this thread and looked through all 56 pages. I want to do this myself
For some reason I can't seem to find a 5 spd mirage f/s, and all the autos are >$3k

Anywho, awesome build

Also is there any place that converts for you and what website did you use to get all these parts?

this is looking fantastic.
looks spot-on in those last couple pics. i love it.

On the topic of building one like this..
It definitely would be easiest, cheapest, and most thorough to buy one from overseas, get someone to dismantle it completely, and bring across every unique part/bolt/wire/clip. Alot of the car you wouldn't need.
buying it panel and piece by piece, you'd pay 20x the cost (buying things from someone who's already dismantled it..) and probably still miss all the overlooked unique bolts and mount parts for things.

one upside of doing it the way you've done it, is there has been a huge lead-up to the point its finished. you'll really enjoy it when its all done..

Evening chaps,
so i've been reading these mirage conversion threads because i might have to convert my evo iv if i move to the states,
do you think there is a market for "mirage conversion kits"(evo's bought in the UK and broken down for shipping, all the parts you need and none of the parts you don't)
In England Evo's range in price from $4000 for a standard evo iv to $12000 for a mint condition tuned evo vi,i don't know how much shipping and import tax are but i can look into it if you think there's a market
It's got to be cheaper than buying all the parts to convert it seperately,
I know evo's are cheaper to buy in japan but can you get them all broken down for import with parts like the rear floor panel, shock towers and fuel tanks?
I have had my own evo in bits enough times to know how to take them apart, and as a business it must be better knowing the parts you are buying have been handled by an enthusiast rather than some scrapyard monkey with a gas axe
what do you think, good idea or not?
cheers,Mick

The car looks great. How many miles have you put on it since you completed the build?

I've put put in enough to buy a nice one in the UK. Only thing I've really avoided, which adds to the value of the car, is its full legality. If I bought one and imported it, it would be illegal. Building it rather is not.

And I haven't been putting too many miles on it. The car needs some serious suspension work done, it's all over the road right now, plus I still have a few boost leaks to sort. Also I apologize for the lack of updates, I've been on vacation in Monte Carlo, now I'm in Monza for the F1 race. Did a little bit of coverage on the Cannonball 2000 while I was there.

Ooh, I envy you. I still want to do an Evo IV (pseudo) conversion project, but money isn't agreeing with my plans, right now.

I might have to break down and get a part-time job. My little business is moving too slow, if I want to get a Mirage by the end of this year.
