Feb 03 is my build date. Got the car on June 15th. I am going to put a good coat of wax on that area just in case.....

I am going to have the Rep look at it tomorrow. You should put some touch up paint for now or it will rust.

I just alerted the service dept at the place where I bought mine from 2 weeks ago. We'll see what they do about this.

Isn't it easy to re-align the door with the rubber stop inside? I heard that was the cause of those chips in that area

whatever it is, I sure hope Mitsu is willing to fix it.
one other question I have, does Mitsu send you a letter if your car has a recall mandated for it? i know GM does this.

Within a day after making the service department aware of this problem and my concerns they scheduled me in to have the door realigned while performing the caulk recall.

The dealership service manager made his disctrict rep aware of the problem after I provided him with the picture in the initial post of this thread as well as the link to the thread itself. They seemed concerned that we are having this problem. Perhaps a greater action will be taken, but at this point I doubt anyone will have problems getting Mitsu to realign their doors. As for the people that already have significant chipping, that may be a bigger issue.

The Rep agree to repaint that spot where it was chipped.

After your door is realigned please check the upper section of the door near the door handle to see if it is sticking out a bit. Mine is sticking out little more than the other side. The rep suggested not to try to align it since it might create more problems.

I have the chips as well. 3M makes a thin clear plastic decal like material which protects against the chips and can only be seen when very close to the car.

I have approx three chips in that area with 2,100 miles (lets not get started on the chips on my frontend/hood). One of the spots is already rusting; doesn't out car have a rust warranty? Shouldn't it be fixed under that?

I should have read all of the posts...
The door stop inside is not a screw in type and is not adjustable....so that is not the fix.
I told my dealership about it and they suggested i touch it up. Some help. Anyway...I will do that but it will not stop the problem. I mentioned the 3M product and he ordered me a kit which is designed for another Mitsu product but can be cut to work on the Evo. Good Luck...
BTW - the svc mgr and i checked the other 5 evos on the lot and every one had the same misalignment.
