I hate to thread jack but the real question that should be ask is how big of a differnce do HIDs make for your field of view in a non HID headlight of the evo.

There is a difference. The light is more intense. It might light up the sides a tad more, but that's the result of the light scattering. There might be some hotspots where the light is more intense and areas where there's very little light. It's not very uniform.
Honestly, IMO, if you want to do HIDS because you like the cool blue look then get PnPs. If you want better light output PERIOD then do a retrofit, OR get some headlights off a HID car.
That's what I did. I got 03 lights for my IX.

All I want is more output from my headlights I don't care for the coolness.

This is a picture that made me do (pay someone) a retrofit on my other car.

I forget what projectors he used.

DDM 55W 8000 for the lows and 35W 6000 for the highs. I've have the low beams installed for a year and four months with no problems. Super bight and super safe night driving.
