I'm a little confused if I should go with a ball or a 3-way...

For ball I'd probably get http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Ball_Head.html

And for 3-way i'd get http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Tilt_Head.html.
This is my setup and it holds my D300 plus 70-200mm with no problems.

I ended up getting the xsi because I couldn't beat the price. Now I just gotta pick up some of the necessary accessories to go with it.

I was looking on ebay and seen photoshop CS3's are going for about $100 or so new and sealed. The new Photoshop CS4 is $700 new from adobe!! but the upgrade is only $200. My question is, is it worth buying CS3 off ebay and the upgrade to CS4 for a total of about $300 or the CS3 for $100 or so bucks would be sufficient enough. Im not looking to go crazy editing on my pictures but need a decent platform to do it off of.

Would you say cs3 is a good match for someone just starting photography?

For someone just starting photography, yes it is. And it is already too much for you to learn it. I've replied your other thread in the photoshop forum, have a look at that, dude.

The burn and dodge function is the only "must-have" thing over CS3 in my opinion.

there are so many things you can do with photoshop. just keep experimenting with it and trying differant things.

also there are plenty of other programs you can use for other just photo related fixes, or changes.

yea cs2 or cs3 are more than fine to use as a beginner...there is so so so much to learn so any of them will do...I personally love searching on youtube for tutorials on how to do things...the only reason to use a higher version is if you are running a newer camera that isn't supported by cs2 or cs3 but even then you can download free converters from adobe so that you can view the files in photoshop...

Oo ok yeah I think ill pick up cs3 off ebay. I have a pirated version of regular cs that I have been screwin around with from a while ago but with virus's and everything its just not worth the hassle. Unless your saving $700 with cs4 lol.
