i just got this done today...also got the center strip done too..what you guys think?

I disagree... Doing it the way it was done looks good to me because if it was all done with the weave in one direction to me would look plain, but with the change in dirrection with the ashtrey I think its easier on the eyes. If it were done in one dirrection it shouldn't be done diagonally. With it diagonal it makes the eyes wonder in the weave dirrection, but with the ashtrey being in an opposite direction corrects that. But thats just my opinion.

 

Yeah I agree with OP as well. I like that the ashtray is in a different direction.
