I have the this Rear Bumper piece and I have to tell you, it is a real nice Piece.
It is very light and it is very well designed. It is designed specificatlly for the JDM Bumper, it has the holes pre-drilled for the license plate, and it also has a aluminum piece to give more strength to the JDM rear from flapping as much in the wind.
The only drawback is that it is quite expensive but when it comes to your life that is a questionable cost.
If budget is of concern then I would recommend modifying the stock crash beam. Maciek at APM actually has done this for a few of this customers.. It will be cheaper.
I personally don't mind paying 400 for this piece, it is a superior design. Like i said the only drawback it the price.
Good luck.

Would you shut up already? I agree this bumper support is a rip off but they are the only people who actually make a GOOD bumper support for the JDM rear. Some people dont have the skill or time to actually fab this up themselves so they have to pay for it like me. Not everyone is going to go out and buy a welder just to make a rear bumper support.

I looked into this a while back when installing my JDM rear, and it s actually a very simple piece to make. Just two chromoly bars and a plating. There's no real science to it. Even talked to my neighbor who builds race car chassis, and he couldn't believe how much they're asking for it, albeit they're the only ones making the piece. I bet any good welder can fab a piece for you for less than $200.

Too much money.
If someone were to produce these for sub-$200 you'd make a fortune. Great opportunity for someone (perhaps recently laid off) with mechanical skills and some free time.

The only reason they are $400 is because they are the only game in town. Maybe they are being a bit greedy? Someone should start offering something comparable for $200. They would sell a ton of them I'm sure. It doesn't cost that much in materials, no way.
