new project. evo IV in the house
I have been searching for an evo IV ever since I picked up my evo1 back in 2002. I got my 1 on e-bay up in Pennsylvania. had shot water pump. flew up with tools and repaired her on the spot and drove her home. 20 hour drive two people straight through. has been best car I have ever owned hands down. 2800 lbs. very quick on very conservative power.
Three weeks ago I finally found a IV for sale in the states. I didnt hesitate to scoop it up. It also was not running with a burnt out clutch and failing AYC. after waiting 3 weeks for a reasonable towing bid I gave up. I bought one way ticket to Utah and hauled new clutch and 100 pounds of tools. As it turned out the clutch had some life after final adjustment. very difficult to get in gear. You have to start car in 1st and rev match gears for engagement. Very stressful driving home 2300 miles wondering if it was gonna make it. trip took me 56 hours.
the condition of car is pretty good. it is mostly stock with HKS catback, and SBC boost control. I am thrilled to just get one. I want to do a complete build on car so the little things dont bother me. they are just plain scarce in the US. so you cant afford to pick and choose.
Car will be getting a poor mans "project white build" with full right up for viewer enjoyment. 2.3/evo red(maybe new green)/ mivec/e85.. already took to scales as I was very curious of curb weight. a bit disappointing at 3050 as it sits with full tank and spare on board. want to drop at least 100 hopefully 150. gonna be fun.
The body has many small imperfections. so a new paint job will commence while I collect all the parts needed for a 30day/30nite performance build.
