Thanks mate. That was the ORIGINAL goal for the car.. I just haven't changed it.. (As I have already surpassed the track time I was wishing to break..
Reason for doing the motor, is that it went pop, and every seemed to snowball from there.. So may as well rebuild it. Im not trying to build a fast 1/4 car. But as long as I can do consistant low 12's with little to no launch, im happy.
Im not that interested in 1/4 time, which is why I wont launch it. I prefer trackdays & time attack...

UPDATE:
Hey all, picked up the shell on saturday. A BIG thanks to all that gave me a hand loading it on the trailer. I really appriciate it.
The engine have been stripped down. The block has been machined, and they are about to start work on the head.
When it was pulled apart, we noticed that ALL of the 2nd compression rings were not sized correctly from factory, and were letting oil get through.. not to mention all that boost. As a result, under boost, the car pushed oil away from the cylinders and the pistons scratched the bore. All the X hatching off the bores was gone.
The head seems to be in really bad shape, it looks like the valve stem seals are gone on the intake side of cylinders 1 and 4, which would have been contributing to the low compression on those particular cylinders.
Anyways, onward and upward.. Ill post some pictures soon.

Thats a shame that the engine had dramas, but atleast it allows bigger and better things to happen, lol.
However, do you think the stock motor was bad from factory, or do you think the car had a hard lift back in Japan ?
It did have coilovers in it, and, if this is the car I remember, a gearbox oil leak had to be fixed from when the gearbox had been opened in the past.
Anyway, goodluck for the build. We both know IS is one of the best in the country.

Did a LITTLE bit of work getting the engine bay cleaned up today.. w00t!
I have actually been considering striping the interior and the sound deadening from it... To strip or not to strip... that is the question!

tear it out my man... you can still have a daily, but have the race look too. I read your entire build and it is looking good brotha. I'm a little biased against the turbo though. I have similar wants as you, but a bit more power and stay 2.0L
Anyway, good luck with your build. Like the wheels, and hope it all comes together for you..

Yes, it is a shame the original motor went.. =(
When we pulled it down, IS found it was bad from factory, but when we started making more power it made the problem evident.
Thanks champ. Make sure you follow the build.
White evos always are soo mint looking in pictures! Any plans with the box? I didn't see any on the list, u think a standard 6 with no upgrades can meet you ps goals? Keep the updates comin

^ At the moment, there are no plans for the drivetrain..
Unfortunatly, I have run out of money at the moment, so im unable to do the drivetrain. The 6 speed should hold up, as long as im not too harsh on it.
Ill upgrade to a SHEP trans and transfercase one day..

UPDATE: Purchased a set of APP 2-Piece front rotors. If they dont make the cut, I may just have to go a full AP racing or Alcon brake setup.. Also picked up a thermal intake gasket that sits between the head + intake mani to reduce transfer of heat.
Also, im looking at sending my, T67 10cm turbine housing, intake manifold + throttle away for some MAPerformance lovin'.. =D
Going to visit my engine builder this saturday, and will hopefully get some pictures!!

UPDATE
Tail lights were removed on the weekend. Intake manifold + Throttle Body were stripped ready to be 'modified'.
Went to sydney on saturday to check the progress of my engine build. Block is almost back from the machine shop. Should be back this week. When it is back, then we can start assembling the bottom end. The head has been stripped and we are now checking clearences for the oversize valves. After we have made all the mesurements, we will then make the desision to go with them or stick with the standard size valves. If we decide to go with the stock valves, it should allow us to develop torque a bit lower, but we wont make as much power up top... (we are talking 5~10kW here... nothing HUGE)
There is ALOT of work to be done to the head, about 1 months worth of porting...
Got my alternator back.. All bearings were shot, oil was all through it and the slip rings needed machining..
Clutch & swaybars have been ordered. Im now looking at getting the rest of my brakes sorted (need rear rotors, lines, street pads). Im also looking at more bracing - Carbing front and rear strut braces, Beatrush X brace, cusco front end X brace and JSpeed fender braces...
All is going to plan, although it is a little slow... haha. It will come together.. should be good for run in tune around Xmas at this rate..

Hey all,
My engine builder is a bit worried about putting in the oversize valves. He believes they are very much over kill for my motor..
What do you lot think?
