Just another DIM (Did It Myself) tailight coversion

Got bored and always like the way the JDM evo 9 tail lights look so I decided to convert my JDM evo 8 tail lights which already have the amber insert so it made coverting them 10 times easier let me know what you guys think.

After

I got these tailights from a friend who has a JDM evo 8 so they came with the amber insert in them.

I used an oven and heated it to 250 degrees and left the light in there for about 5 mins BTW make sure to take out all the bulbs and the harness to be on the safe side then use a sheetrock knife and cut through the glue every carefully. If the glue starts to get hard put it back in the oven again for a few mins then do the same thing.

After your done painting them, you can just throw them back in the oven to re-activate the glue.. just this time, don't pull them apart
Plus, it will make your paint harden even more. Cheap powder coat, lol

Actually with the tail lights that will not work with resealing them back with the oem glue. But I actually did put them back in the oven before resealing them with autglass sealer and I have no leaks in mine

I didn't think you could use heat to open up the taillights. It doesn't use the same kind of adhesive the headlights do. Most people, including myself, had to use a Dremel to open them and then use some silicone sealant to reseal them.

The black looks a lot better than the chrome. The chrome makes them look too much like eBay Altezza tails lol

yeah the headlight adhesive is much softer and easier to open than the tails as for the dremel I know most people rather use it and i am sure it must be easier than the way I did but if you are like me who don't have a dremel then trust me heating them will make it alot easier to open
