Talking Paint and Free Time

I decided that since it will be a while until i can start on the serious mods, I might as well do some of the easy detailing work done first.

I have braided stainless covers for the radiator and heater hoses, as well as blue split wire looms to install,. I should have that stuff handled by the time I get broken in and can start the more serious mods.

1200 degree

and it looks liek after the break in that it most likely won't hold up. If that turns out to be the case i will send it to get powder coated. We have a place here in town that has been fairly resonable on other things I have taken them

Yeah I was thinking about doing the same thing, but am scared it won't hold up to the heat. What about a silicon based paint?

Also what did you use on the airbox/ic piping/fuse box? is it factory BBY paint? if so how much did it run you?

Thanks,
Jeff

Funny enough that everything is the same 1200 Degree paint. it is just that all the parts (except the heat shield) have 2 coats of clearcoat on them, as the high heat paint is really flat. The match to the BBY color is close enough for me.

I know the powder coats will handle the heat, and I thought that 1200 degree would at least have a chance. I may bead blast both shielda and try the same 1200 degree paint, and then kiln bake it at like 600 degrees before putting back on the car, to hard cure the paint. I think in the end i will just have to pony up and powder coat them though.

The paint I used was:
duplicolor high heat w/ ceramic
1200 degree flavor
color: Blue DH1612

and on the plastics I just used duplicolor standard clear coat.

I just did not like the black plastic. Especially since I removed the louvres from the hood vent and the first thing that stares up at you is a big black plastic elbow of the intake.

I am not into just changing stuff for no reason, or just to be passing time. I guess it looks ok if you like it, but I wouldn't have done it....

as everyone has said. To each, his own. I just will not do any perf mods until the break in is over. and I wanted to have something different when I opent he hood next a someone elses, that would give me some measure of uniqueness. Sure it does nto increase performance, but for some things, that does not bother me. Plus it allowed me to get into things in the engine compartment and have a look around. That way, when it does come time to tear into things (BOV, Intake, TB, etc.) i will be more familiar with who/what goes where.

Looks good, personally I was thinking about doing the same thing when I get a set of upper intercooler pipes.; I was gonna have them powdercoated though.

not so much bored.

THe eclipse i had before this car was modded,a dn hte fun of a great car is beign able to modify and tweak it to get the most out of it.

Well until the break in period is done, and I get that first oil change out of the way, I am not going to be modifying any performance mechanicals. That being said. I just wanted to do something to it, adn I would have done engine compartment stuff eventually anyway. Just so it doesn't look so stock when sitting with the hood open at a car show. I know a lot of people woudl not bother since it does not increase performance, but i want it to look great when they stop to take a look after I smoke someone.
