Did you weight the new battery and the stock one? Great weight savings and lower placement! That is under the passenger seat as well, correct?

Didn't weigh the stock. Odyssey 14.7lbs. It's under passenger seat.

That is a great battery and the one i intend to use in my Evo eventually. I do live in TX though, where it is warm enough to use it year round.
Northerners may only want to use this in the summer.

A couple warnings. Be prepared for frequent jump starts. If you leave your lights on for 15 minutes or your stereo on a while (without the car running of course) it will completly drain the battery.

Also with this mod located in the passenger cabin, you will not be able to ever run an SCCA autocross or probably any track events either. Also any drag strip that actually does tech inspections, will probably not allow you to run either.

good points all. Probably better of putting the stock battery in the trunk if you are going to do any racing (in an approved box) and that would help weight distribution (not overall weight) a little more too...

Would placing it in your trunk prevent you from running, autox, track events, etc...? Also what exactly is an "approved box" to house a battery?

Thanks,
smanders

Definitely a mod to consider, save at least 20lbs.

I am considering a stereo upgrade. I think a Cap will help. Anybody else upgrade stereo with minibattery?

Sorry to bring back such an old thread.

If these Odyssey batteries are sealed and do not leak acid or anything like that, why would they not be allowed in track events? As long as a fuse or breaker is used, near positive terminal, there would be no fire risk.

I'm thinking of doing this mod and I do occasionally participate in road race time attack events.

Thanks,

JCG
