HOTTEST new look at SEMA

I was at SEMA this past week and the hottest new look is a satin finish on the car....sort of a matt or primer finish but polished...hard to explain but it just looks amazing...there was an old impala there in a bronze....and a few japanese cars....it just looks "right" I saw one attempt at this look at the show by what looked like someone wetsanding the car....I dont think thats the way to do it...anyone have any idea how to do this?

paint comes matte naturally, all they did is a matte clear.

Prodrive had a whole lineup of cars with this paint job there. You might want to call them to ask about it.

I was there too. My painter buddy said those cars are painted that way with a high percentage mixture og matte. Then they are cleared to protect the finish from scratching and finger prints. Cannot be waxed and touch up is almost impossible.

too bad...im in the middle of a project now (65 convt mustang 03 cobra engine) that would have looked sick in that mate finish....the first thing i thought was what happens with a scratch...i cant see it being that difficult to match though...

the pictures to post...if anyone has them would be that 60s bronze colored impala...It just looked so right....but there were a few japanese cars with that look too...I didnt take any...I had to leave sema early ....i thought i would have had time...but i didnt...I hope someone else snapped a few....the look was consistant throughout the show from old muscle cars, to japanese and a few pick up trucks....it almost makes the car look comical...or like a big toy....really looks nice....im gonna dig through all the sema stuff and see if i can find anything

If you know anything about handguns the finish is called Parkerized. No reflection, dull matte finish. Withstands abuse on a firearm. The look is the same on a car.
