Another "bye bye Evo, hello new car" thread
Well I had a E92 335i right before I got the evo. Sold it after a month, had basic boltons, it was horrible.
The turbo's went, seals around the motor were leaking, and the well re-known HPFP problem was getting unbearable. 3 pumps, everyone going bad and causing major issues.
The new 35's and overall all the 3 series from 07 on really are the most un-reliable BMW's ever. Go to your SERVICE department at your local dealership oneday and look at the chart with the cars in line for work done. 90% of them is the new 3 series and the turbo 35's.
Now, BMW'S N/A motors have been proven over and over when well maintained, but good maintenance on them is a lot more pricey in my opinion. However, the fact of the matter, you can beat the evo's ***** of, and it wont have issues. It was made for that. The BMW on the other hand, beat it hard, and it'll break.
We've had atleast 150+ Bmws in our shop this past year alone. Facts are facts
Sure, the luxury of those cars, the engineering and time put into them, and their performance is insane. And, if properly taken care of, they are reliable. But that comes with a price.

I too had a 335i and not once did my HPFP go out. I believe that's luck though considering a few of my friends baby their car while I track mine extensively. I work closely with a few of the dealers around here so I know what cars are in. However, the 3 series being brought in are just for general non-mechanical issues such as the broken seat belt arm on the coupe and the infamous broken cup holder (people always tend to knee these). I know this is geographical but in southern California, there is no point bringing BMWs to indy shops when you have a wide selection of dealers with a few being aftermarket friendly. As for the proper care, cars such as the e46 m3 (my favorite so far) isn't as bad as an evo. If we calculate the oil change interval at 7k (half of recommended) the oil change will cost $10 for filter and $60 for oil while Evos will be $25 for oil and $10 for filter every 3k-4k. During major 60k service for both evo and m3, it's $500 for valve adjustment and $500 for all the belt change in an evo. Fluids both costing the same if you use OEM diff and tranny fluid makes both evo and m3 very similar in price to own. Let us not forget that if we decide to use OEM parts such as the Brembo pad and Brembo rotors, it may cost well over the OEM parts for the M3. What I'm trying to say is that if you think BMWs are more expensive to maintain, you may just have to dig harder for shops with individuals that are just as qualified to do the work but at a cheaper rate.

It should be noted, the 6-year is not a 6-year addition, but only an extention to 6 years after the original purchase date.

in my opinion, ( no offense), this was a stupid move.
If your starting a family, and business, you need something roomy and reliable. Get a toyota avalon or a nice lexus gs or somethin instead of a m3. Basically, an even more un-reliable raw car that will guzzle gas like its nothing.
The family excuses for people who go over to the euro side annoy me. Be a man and admit, you got tired of the boy racer look and decided to dump more money to be grown up
