Another "bye bye Evo, hello new car" thread

After 6 years of ownership, I have to say goodbye to my Evo 8. It's been good. I loved the rawness and sharpness.

New car, I need a different car for the next 8 years (family, business, etc.):

I'll always remember the Evo. It was my first car I purchased after college.
I'll keep stalking this forum until my parts are sold.

So, did you end up selling the evo? Saw it in DCevoclub...

In my opinion, ( no offense), this was a stupid move.
If your starting a family, and business, you need something roomy and reliable. Get a toyota avalon or a nice lexus GS or somethin instead of a M3. Basically, an even more un-reliable raw car that will guzzle gas like its nothing.

The family excuses for people who go over to the euro side annoy me. Be a man and admit, you got tired of the boy racer look and decided to dump more money to be grown up :P
xD

My dad had a 08 Coupe for a few weeks before he got rid of it. Meh, I prefer my evo though.

thats one hell of a car you just got yourself, usually evo owners may regret getting rid of their evos, but in this case you just cant go wrong.

good luck with it, and have fun!

I think you simplify things too much in your perspective. Everyone is in a different situation.

My reasons:
1. I'm moving cross country (DC to SF) in a year, so having an Evo or 2 cars makes no sense. (cruise control, folding rear seats, cost of shipping cars, adjustable dampers, navi)
2. New car has to be a "significant" upgrade from the Evo, please do let me know any family cars that can run at least with the Evo.
3. If you must know how "expensive" it was, I paid around $45k. Should I have paid near $40k for a nwe Evo X MR? hmm, doesn't seem like a great bang for the buck in that perspective. And yes, to cover all bases, no financing or trade, only thing i have to pay for in addition is state tax.
4. My insurance is cheaper with the same level of coverage for the new car.
5. I'm starting to entertain professional clients for my boss now. Evo is a bit out of place.

To me, all reasons point to a "good decision" to me.

Yeah, lots of measurable downside to M3 too:
1. Super limited and expensive tires
2. high cost of mantenance of after warrenty and service plan expires
3. a bit smaller rear seating space (middle seat)
4. cost/value (debateable, but I'll throw it here)
5. rear wheel drive if I lived in snowy climates

Sweet car.

No way ANY m3 is less reliable than an Evo. LOL.

you cant go wrong with an M3, luxury, fast, and respect ( which most of us evo owners dont get, since NOT everyone knows what an evo is and people think we drive a ricer with a huuge wing)...honestly i would def take an M3 of that caliber over an evo PERIOD.
