Painting rims

So I am pretty sure I want to paint my rims black... My friend has a mazdaspeed blue that he painted his rims white (did it himself) and they actually look pretty nice...

However being white it is hard to keep them clean, he said he will help me paint mine black if I want.

Anyone have any advice on which brand of paint to use? Is it not worth painting the rims on my own? Has anyone had theirs done professionally, if so, what did that run ya?

Thanks
Derek

I remember hearing something about powder coating calipers cost 800 (someone posted something like that)

And I am not looking to spend 800 to paint the rims

How does 80 bucks a rim add up to 800? Do some research on google, its a damn lot faster than going to post a topic on a forum. You can also sand down your rims, primer, and paint them yourself. Theres videos all over youtube son.

Who said 80 bucks a rim?
someone talked about calipers.... I assumed it would cost more to paint rims than calipers.

I am not looking for how to videos, I am wondering if the quality gap between DIY and professional is super apparent.

Thanks though, when the time comes for wanting to know how to do it, I will check out google and youtube

Even still you'll find reviews through google for different brand paints etc... Most people here just use whatever they sell at the local autozone/autoparts store. That or you get it powdercoated, that's the route I'm going. As much as I know I could do a good job painting them, I'd rather powdercoat them. Better resale value and they hold up better.

I rarely say this but, search noob. there's litterally hundreds of threads about this already. too many to count about how to do it, what paint to use, etc. there's also countless picture threads with DIY paint jobs. the quality of the work will depend on whether you suck at it or not. if you suck, then the gap between your crappy work and a pro will be huge.
