Rims: Paint or New?

I'm deciding if i want to paint my stock GTS rims (white) or buy new rims...

Money is a BIG factor in this... If i buy new rims it won't be for a while if at all...

How do you guys think a white painted stock rim would look on electric blue?

Worth my time to paint? or just save for new rims?

imo...if money is an issue...i would powder coat the stock.
thenn save ur money for other mods like exhaust or suspension or intake..possibly a turbo
then all that is done get a new set of wheels =)

when money is an issue, I'd leave them stock and just save for the good stuff. Anything you do to the stock wheels will set you back that much from getting what you ultimately want.

Painting the stock wheels is a bad idea in my opinion because if you choose to sell the car you are making it impossible to bring the car back to complete stock without having to buy another set of wheels that arent painted.

Having a set of wheels will always give you a backup set if you damage one of the new ones.

Moving to Show & Shine - that's where threads about appearance go. Tire section is for "will these fit" type stuff.

I think the white rims would look good on the blue.

i don't plan on selling the car. The only issue with painting the rim... is if it would look bad. So resale doesn't concern me at all.

I'm planning on saving for exhaust, turbo, etc. so i think i'll end up doing what nunyas has said.

Just wanted to get the community opinion on white powder coated stock rims on electric blue

Also, sorry for posting in the wrong section

There are three people in So Cal who have painted their stock wheels. Two used spray paint and the other powder coated them.

My personal opinion is that they all look like crap. But thats me.

Just do what you want that is all it comes down to. No matter what you do, there will be at least one person who doesnt like it.

I would suggest that you paint them a different color. Unless you really like cleaning your wheels daily.

Good point, especially if you have aggressive or dusty pads.

Too true...

I have white wheels...but they are usually offwhite because I dont clean them everyday. You can wipe a spot on them and youll see two distinct colors

rim recoat

I had good results using a paint called rim recoat. I forget who is was made by but i got it at auto zone. you can buy a clear coat by the same maker and it comes in black, white, and gun mettle. it held up against stones and had a good shine.

ill look and see if i have a can left to find the manufacturer name if your interested.

Sure, any suggestions in what paint to use etc is appreciated

anyone think there is any colour i could paint the mitsu symbol and have it not stick out too much....? usually see silver or red symbols... but i don't tihnk either of those would look good on a white rim on a blue car
