OEM heat shield and intercooler piping mod!

Just was looking at my engine bay and was getting disgusted, so now im on a mod spree, alot of upgrades coming. SCROLL DOWN FOR STOCK INTERCOOLER PIPING POLISH!
First thing was to paint the ugly stock heat shield until i either get new headers or a chrome aftermarket heat shield.

How much does that stuff run for a can?

Paint your upper IC pipe. I did mine in a satin black(primer'd first) and it looks good. Before painting it I also polished the entire area after the first bead on each end for a tight seal and so its really noticeable if the hose starts to slip off. (Can't see polished part if hose is on properly)

i think it was 7 -9 a can, something like that, cheap mod, really changes the way it looks now until i can save for a nice afetrmarket one, your IC pipe looks good i might polish mine and get the red silicone IC piping and call it a day, im getting my chrome intake this week so my engine bay is getting there slowly

Cool. Did ya get it at autozone or hardware store like lowes? I wanna touch up my cover because it has a few spots of silver on it, but no rust.

I wonder how well that will hold up on my downpipe because I'd like to coat my entire exhaust mainly for protection. Last winter pitted the crap out of it even though its stainless.

The polished part looks good, but like most polished parts, they tend to oxidize over time. I actually did it more of a brushed look. I'll have to check how its holding up the next time I take the pipe off.

Just take it out and use a metal polish (in this case i used mother's mag and aluminum polish) and just use a towel and ALOT of elbow grease

Looks good. I did the one on my DSM with VHT Flameproof. Wondering how well it is gonna stick to rust.

if you sand the UICP with 1000, then 1500, then 2000grit and polish it with mothers after it will look chrome. Its some work but worth the results
