Kartboy short shift / Razo RA96 combo

I installed a Kartboy short shifter, Razo RA96 340 gram shift knob and Lancershop solid bushings yesterday. Actually I've had the knob for about a week. These three together made a big improvement in shift feel even after already having done the Stainless clutch line and restrictor removal couple months ago. Any way great combination to improve shifting. Here is a pic.

Very nice short shift there. Must feel incredible! I'm planning on getting the kartboy shifter too, but I really don't feel like putting my momo nob on another shifter. Such a pain in the *** to get it to stay on right

The Razo knobs are real nice and have universal fitting. They provide different size inserts and just screw on. This one is 340 grams which is very hefty and feels great. They even have one that is 400 grams in a different style.

Take care

Mojo,

Where did you buy that shiftnob, by chance? Is the RA96 the correct size/model?

(Razo RA96 short) is the correct model. I think there is a long model (RA97)also. I think I got it at http://www.sounddomain.com/shop/list...art=21&show=20 but if you do a search on Google you may find it for less I think I did after purchasing it. I think I've seen it for as little as $36 while doing a search.

Heres another place that has it but its more $. http://www.extremeredline.com/razo/r...shift_knob.htm

Take care,
mojo

Thanks mojo!

The one you bought from sounddomain is fitted for the threads on our shift assembly?

The knob comes with 3 different sized plastic inserts. You just use the insert that fits your shifter.

I like that 400 gram RA68 palmgrip model also. The one on the extremeredline site (all leather wrapped). Almost wish I had gotten that one. It's even 60 grams heavier and looks like it would feel better ergonomically than the RA96. It is a little taller though.

I noticed a nice improvement in shift feel with the RA96 over the stock knob even before installing the bushings and Kartboy. Heavier just seems to work better with the Evo shifter setup.

I saw you ordered the Kartboy. You'll like it. Are you getting different bushings also? Might as well do it all at once so you don't have to tearr into it again.

Do you have the Stainless clutch line? Have you removed the restrictor?

I used the B&M short shifter install instructions by Evilution in how to forum. Good pics. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...hifter+install

Take care,
Scott

Thanks for your input on this setup. I'm really liking it. Yes, I did order the kartboy as I've had friends use their products before in WRX's and loved them . I have the metal bushings from Lancershop which I'll be installing along with the shifter and new nob.

I do have the stainless clutch line, but I did not remove the restrictor. The clutchline made the world of a difference as I had that put in with my Clutchmasters stage3 kit. I don't particuarly think removing the restrictor is a good idea as it was put there to prevent drive train damage. The clutchline alone is a great upgrade, but the stage3 kit is amazing. I spin all 4 tires easily now and there's absolutely no clutch burn. Great product as always from CM

My clutch still feels perfect at over 9k. I drive the car aggresively but don't do hard launches. I kept the restrictor and will reinstall it when my clutch wears out and I upgrade.

Take care,
mojo

Stock clutch is fine as long as you're not doing hard launches. That's what killed mine, but now I have no worries.

I currently have a B&M short throw, and stainless clutch line. My car is sitting at the shop awaiting my ACT Clutch and Fidanza aluminum flywheel from RRE. I received my Lancershop metal shifter bushings and clutch extender rod from them yesterday and went up to the shop and installed the bushings today while I had some free time. These are quality bushings, very simple design and exact fit, cheers to Lancershop and thanks, you can tell time was put into machining these units. Put them in in like ten minutes and even though my clutch is slipping I took the car for a little spin in the parking lot, wow those bushing really do give you rifle bolt action feeling when shifting. I would suggest these to anybody interested in really acheiving a direct feel with their vehicle when shifting. They put a smile on my face.
