iPod Hack for stock HU?
That's what I used when I built a couple of computer's into cars. They work great.... The only issue is that when you have the ipod sending audio (playing) it will cut off the external antenna. So basically you have to hit the stop button on the ipod before switching stations, othewise, you will have no reception... Not really a big deal. Look for them online and you can prob get it for 30 or so.. Go to a car audio shop, they'll have it for like 70... Go to best buy and they'll just look at you funny. Let me know if you have other questions on installing it.

Just saw this while someone was asking if/how I hooked up my iPod to my car.
The ultimate car connector the the Apple iPod and iPod mini
Tight integration of the Apple iPod and iPod mini into the vehicle environment is what’s delivered by ice>Link:iPod.
ice>Link:iPod plays high quality iPod audio through your existing car entertainment system’s CD changer port. Finally you can discard cassette adaptors, cigarette lighter chargers and FM transmitters and start enjoying enjoy direct line-in audio quality with charging and iPod control from your existing car entertainment system.
When used with compatible vehicle entertainment systems, ice>Link:iPod powers the iPod on and off as you enter/exit CD changer mode on your car's entertainment system. FF/RW/search/seek are passed to the iPod too – this is really great for cars with steering wheel entertainment controls.
Iif your head unit isn’t listed as compatible, you can still use ice>Link:iPod if you have an auxiliary input on your entertainment system. The auxillary-input version of ice>Link:iPod enables charging, audio and power control of your iPod in conjunction with your head unit's power on/off..
ice>Link:iPod is available for all Apple iPods from the original 5GB model right through to the very latest iPod mini. If your iPod has a dock connector, you can use the attractive Dension-designed active cradles, or, if you prefer to leave your iPod in a protective case, we offer a cabled connection to the dock connector or remote control connector for 1st and 2nd generation iPods
Got this from http://www.dension.com/main.php?pageid=50&topid=42
I do NOT have this product and I am interested on how useful this is or if I should wait for the Alpine HU.

There's several RF transmitters out there. I have two different ones and neither one is worth a crap. Maybe if you live in the boon docks, but they're worthless in a decent sized city.

yeah, i've trie a few (Belkin, ITrip, Monsters ICarPlay, which i currently have) and they all suck. anytime i drive on a bridge, i lose all reception. any underpass, tunnel, downtown with all the buildings, etc......Also, you would have to turn your radio's volume a lot higher than normal. Out of the 3, the best one is the Monster and that's not saying much. the only reason is becuae it charges the Pod and transmit the songs. i really want to hardwire it to my HU so if anyone knows a way, holla!!!!

1. Acts as an smb share on a network so you can upload music over ethernet, rather than 1394 or usb 1.1/2.0.
2. Supports more codecs (flac and vorbis).
3. Nice and small!
4. You can play music from your PC through your Karma without having to actually have the music on the device itself.
5. OS indepenent, which is perfect for the small percentage of the world who don't happen to run Windows (I'm talking to you hippies running Macs and uber l33t h4xx0rs running Linux and BSD).
Did I mention it glows blue while it is in it's cradle? I like pretty lights..
Can you tell that I want a Rio Karma??

Karma all the way!!!
I wanna know is how is the quality of the fm modulator. I have IPOD myself and was using the fm transmitter but the quality just sucked so I chucked out the window. I guess the best thing to do is buy a different head unit. I want all or nothing ...CD quality sound or nothing at all
