If I get all the stuff before the weekend ill be starting on some of the small stuff this weekend to get the hang of it...worked a little with carbon kevlar and fiberglass...and the person house I'm doing it at my brothers...works with carbon fiber on helicopters and airplanes...so whatever I need help with he can help... And if it comes out not as good as I want ill scrap it and make a new one... Its not a price thing I'm worried about Its just a project thing... Plus i haven't seen any exteriour parts in carbon kevlar other than hoods....and most of it was just carbon fiber and colored fiberglass... But ill post pictures and stuff as I go please feel free to subscribe and hate you won't hurt my feelings

Maybe not mil-spec, but pretty much all kevlar material is strong as ****!!! Plus I don't think he's making a bullet proof car (which would be AWESOME!!!). I think he's just trying to say it'll be strong enough (to stop bullets, jk).

The cloth kevlar is tough, yes, I don't deny it, but when you mold it with epoxy resin, it's very brittle. Have you never touched a CF roof, hood, trunk, etc? I broke a CF roof a few years ago by accidentally dropping a wrench on it from something like 3 or 4 feet above it when it was lying on the ground; practically shattered.... just imagine what a bullet would do, unless like I stated before, if you add graphene to the resin, then it drastically increases the TS to the force-load applied, but IDK about instantaneous force like a bullet.

what are you talking about you can buy vests and guns... you can get m4s other assault rifles as well as snipers like the 50 cal. in order to get the m4 though you have to get a short barrel license since the barrel is like 14.5 in long. and that is a process. but if you want to keep tlaking about this start a new thread

IDK **** about guns, so saying m4 and such is over my head. I know you don't have access to a lot of miltary-spec stuff..... However, I'm willing to bet anything that you cannot buy the exact vests and armor **** they use currently; I have friends that work at the DoD and they can't even casually talk about damn near anything.
As for the gun models and stuff, IDK anything about that so it's probable I could be wrong.

Anyway, lets see some composites

Are you using Kevlar 49 or 149, 1x1, 2x2? Kevlar is awesome, the down side is you will never be able to wet the fibers, your matrix can only surround them! I'm looking forward to the results, good luck!
I hope this info helps!

Haha this thread is hilarious. If the guy wants to spend the time to do it, let him.

As for going off topic with military stuff, you can get it but it all depends on you as an individual and your State law. NFA items Class 3 can all be purchased with accordance to BATFE. And ceramic plate armor can be purchased by certain civilians with proper paperwork. Reg soft vests can be purchased by anyone that isn't a felon.

There's a thread on H-T regarding a guy from the Netherlands, Kevlaring his Civic. His kevlar turned out pretty nice for a DIY.
