Clear Cam Gear Cover

Hey,

So, having just read thru the thread on the carbon fibre cam gear covers and not finding a single URL to go and buy one....

Can anyone make a clear type for the Evo, similar to this one (off a 4AG Toyota engine...)

IMHO, it'd look 10x better with HKS Cam sprockets and maybe a nice, blue Greddy timing belt

(of course, I'd want to install it on an Evo6.... anyone know if the covers are the same as the 7&8 ?)

I like that. Normally I don't go in for the appearance stuff but this one is pretty neat.

My Brother-in-Law owns a prototyping company, so I will check with him about pricing on something like this. That cover would be nice because you can see the cam gears and still have the protection of the cover. I'm not sure about the fitment of an EVO8 cover on an EVO6 though.

This one is excellent, why? Because many people take off their cam gear covers just to show their cam gears, BUT....people are taking a risk because if a piece of rock or something gets caught or flies shooting towards the cam gears, their will BE A HUGE PROBLEM! Now having this clear see-through cam gear cover, not only will you have looks, but you have protection. I would also love to see a vendor or a company make this because I know I would love to buy it no matter the price

If the price isn't too crazy for the material (product), I will probably sell them through my company. I'm not a vendor on these boards, so I will not be posting a price, but I will let you know availability and where to find it. The environment of the engine compartment will require a good material to be used for the cover, or else the clear will become 'yellowed' or have a burned look. My web site is still in the works and I am waiting for some product, but hopefully I will have something soon.

Sweet.

Well, I'll check out compatibility between Evo iterations. (I'm pretty sure that the 4-8 all have the same cover, but if not, I'll happily send over an Evo 4-6 cover for someone to make a mould from)

If anyone finds anything, please post contact info here and I'll be in touch with an order

Cheers,
Ian.

Just wondering if anyone has made any progress in sourcing something like this???

(I've confirmed that the covers are identical for the Evo 4-8 so there's an order waiting here already ;-)

I'd definitely be on order for something like this as well. As for materials, perhaps molded lexan (plexiglas would probably be too brittle)?

Any luck on a company willing to prototype yet?

Thats pretty cool. I guess it would serve in a protective manner too, right?
