Problem with Zaklee Clear Cam Gear cover

So has anyone else had a problem with their Zaklee clear cam gear cover cracking due to heat stress or had it start getting foggy. The reason I ask is cause I went to my buddies house and when I left I turned a few corners from his house and then my car just shut down. This was due to a bad Cam Angle sensor which could have been related to the piece of the cover found in my cam gears.

Car would crank fine. The local shop here came to grab my car and took it back to the shop where he found part of the rubber or foam gasket material wedge in between my gears and my belt. Also when I opened my hood a triangle piece of the cover was by the front most screw had broken off and was hanging there by a the tip of it. Safe to say that if that fell in between my gears and belt it could have have some serious negative affects on my motor...like a blown one.

Just want to know if anybody has had a simliar problem with them.

I've had to replace my cover also. It was only on the car about 8 months and it had cracked around all the bolts. I was going to just leave the cam gears open but it didn't seem like a good idea. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Never heard of one bad cover when installed correctly. I have one also with no probs.. Cam sensor is on the other side of the motor. No where near the cam cover. Install error maybe? Over tightened bolts?

Well the overtighting is a given, that's a no brainer but possibly if it's a slight too tight then the expanding platic could make it that much tighter and begin to crack. Good thinking. But how tight it too tight. I would get it snug enough not vibrate the bolt out nor make it so loose that it would vibrate.

I bought one of these about two weeks ago. I realize that it's plastic that's surrounded by a lot of heat at certain times. I think given the price ($60) that having it for eight months before it started cracking is a nice trade-off before having to replace it again.

Hi, All -

You guys should be contacting me when you crack your cam gear cover. I'll replace it for free, although you'll get a lightweight lecture about proper torque for a cover whose sole function is to keep stuff out of your cam drive area. I can break anything if I torque it enough.

Thanks!
