Subscribed! Let me know if you need help on anything, I know ALOT about these cars. You said no engine swap though? FYI you can't run the AWD transmission with either stock engine 4G15 or 4G93. An easy swap is the 4G64 though if you
have a 4G93 (1.8) engine stock, it's even easier.

A LOT of fabrication is involved. The AWD platform is different on the USDM Mirage. I want to do a Evo V conversion and I will only start one if my current VIII is totaled. Everything swaps over, but many areas need to be cut and moved. A few people on this site have done FWD conversions on Mirage chassis, but not AWD.

It's not THAT hard. You certainly need fabrication skills, but all there is too it is cutting out the Mirage rear floorpan and welding in the AWD one. Also, if you want RHD you need to cut out the stock Mirage firewall and weld in the Evo one. That's it. Other than those two areas and the front reinforcement from the strut towers to the firewall, the 5G Mirage and Evo 4-6 chassis are exactly the same.

OP you want to run evo VIII engine with a 4-6 trans?
Ah, your right I missed that the first time. Even though the CM5A transmission is awd, the gear ratio is wrong. If you were to try to use that transmission with the Evo 4 rear end, it would lock up and destroy itself. Also, you cannot use the rear diff out of the CM5A as the rear ends are completely different. The best way to go would be an Evo 4 rear end with Evo 8 axles and rear diff along with an Evo 8 transmission and tcase. That is how I'm doing mine.

yea man! ill hit you up if I hit any bumps down the road, but I'm not sure if you saw it, but I am doing a engine swap. The donor car is going to be an evo 8

and what exactly are you talking when you say rear end? I'm thinking you're talking about more than just the bumper.. so evo 8 trans, axles, rear diff, tacase, how about the driveshaft, upper and lower control arms..? would any of that matter.. sorry for the newbie questions, I'm actually learning a quite of few things just brainstorming this project
This is a complete Evo 4 GSR rear end. You need all of these parts minus the diff, axles, and AYC pump stuff. It's basically just the knuckles, control arms, and subframe parts.
Thanks for the picture man, that actually helped. so pretty much I'll just replacing the e4 gsr parts with e8 diff, axles, transfer case, and etc.?? alright lets say I use a RS transmission.. I'll just have to get the RS diff, axles and xfer case and everything will still be good right? Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the RS and E8 axles and etc pretty much the same? but yea i'm just trying to keep as much E4 parts as possible, but still able to pass smog and get bar'd..

Yeah, AYC sucks. The E4 version can't handle any more than 300hp without grenading. Which transmission you use doesn't matter, which tcase you use does. I'm planning to run an Evo 4 tcase with an Evo 8 rear diff. The ratio's aren't the exact same, but it's so close it shouldn't matter. .005 off I believe. I've been told that Evo 4-9 RS rear axles are all the same length, so you should be able to use any of them.
Nice, the dude is in my town San Fran. Well I wanna see this get in to gear.
Well I know I can find a Mirage for $500 or less.
Buy a front clip for 4k shipped.
get the her running first then go awd later. It is easy to work on the rear with a lift.
All the parts you need off a evo I can source you here in the Bay asap. I also can help you out with any fabrication, wiring. I did all my wiring over and over again just to clean it up, so I am pretty well comfortable with the circuits

Here you go OP. This is the Guy you should talk too. His evo 5 clone is sick!
Check out this site for a front clip http://jdmengineworld.com/
They sometimes put their clips up on eBay, they are reputable. One of their clips would finish off most of your list, and you will have plenty of cash to spend on a donor car, wheels, and a rear floor panel.
