OK... I see there are a few different headlight options for the Evos... But here's my quick question.

I have an IX MR with the gloss black chrome inner housings for my headlamps.

Were the IX's also offered with the bright silver chrome housings?

No, those are the 8 headlights.

USDM 8 headlights= Chrome housing with amber signal at top

JDM 8 Headlights= Flat black housing with amber signal at bottom

USDM 9 headlights= Black chrome housing with amber signal at top

JDM 9 headlights= Black chrome housing with amber signal at bottom

EDM 8 headlights= Chrome housing with amber signal at bottom

Not sure if there is a edm 9 headlight difference.

 

All US spec IXs should have Black chrome headlights and taillights, VIIIs are Silver Chrome. If not it was probably swapped.

Well thank you for that... Anyone have an IX Xenon passenger side headlamp? or passenger fender, or bumper?

some idiot backed into me last friday in Chicago, crunching my bumper, fender and headlamp... I need replacements... and I am up in Madison, WI on contract.

 

Thank you for the clarifications between the headlights... Now I know the US and JDM have different amber lenses...

but with Evo 8 and 9 headlights... (xenon for xenon, halogen for halogen)

are the only differences the chrome vs black chrome lenses?

What I am getting at, is can I buy a passenger 8 headlamp, crack it open, crack open my driver's side 9 headlamp and color match them.

as long as they are both usdm then yes, they are the same internally. If you get a EDM or JDM headlight the projector will be backwards.
