Pearl Rally Red Evo 8 with Metallic Black
I got some pretty serious hail damage on my 03 Rally Red Evo, and I have to admit, I was ecstatic! The factory paint on my car was awful, after getting it professionally waxed and polished every year, turning pink was inevitable.
To my dismay, I guess hail damage doesn't automatically mean paint job anymore, my estimate was only for $1,400 for paintless dent repair. ACK!!
Fortunately my friend owns a body shop and he's willing to do a custom paint job for the insurance check. Dropped my car off this morning, it's getting 2009 Mitsubishi Rally Red Pearl with BMW Metallic Black trunk, roof and center of the hood.
I had my eye on some candy paint but at four times the cost in material I settled for the pearl, fingers crossed, I'll post pics when it's done.
Faded Rally Red/Pink (before):

UPDATE, it's finished! (after):

aaand this picture from HIN Chicago, 2007 because it's awesome, lol

^^^^^^ that looks pretty good! And to the OP your car does really look kinda pinkish, Mitsus paint sucks. My mother has an 05 Endeavor which is for sale btw, the truck is black and 2yrs after she bought it brand new the paint started fading off and now the hood, the top and the side panels are almost all white.

I probably should have started this thread yesterday to get more ideas, body-shop friend just called to tell me he picked up my paint already so there's no turning back. I never loved a car so much, I hope it turns out great, fingers crossed!

How did the hood and front fenders fare? My car has been lightly hailed on at least four occasions and only the steel parts show any dents.
BTW, i have an 03 RR that has never been waxed. No fade and when I wash it, it shines like new.

body shop friend is fixing dents as he preps for paint.
Hood has a couple dents in it, had about the same damage as roof and trunk. Hardly anything on the sides, I guess around 95% of hail damage jobs are done with paintless dent repair now (laaame).
You must live in a very cloudy state, my car is usually in the garage, it's only outside while I'm at work, the fade seemed unavoidable. A couple years ago I had sponsorship from McGuire's and they sent me a case of goodies every year, still faded over time, I'm sure I could have kept up with the waxing and polishing better but still.. Maybe my car was originally painted on a Friday.

I was quoted $3,500 from another shop, and that didn't include any work on the hail damage. My friend with a body shop is doing everything for $1,000 and a $300 laptop.
ya my RR evo was pretty bad when i got it. i got all the fade out with a rubbing compound but after 6 months it came back a little. so i did it again and changed to a synthetic wax and also paint sealant. seems to be doing a good job havent waxed it in over a 2 months and the water still beads off like i did it yesterday. still want to get it repainted though.

Waxing makes a car look better because it fills in the tiny scratches. Where do the tiny scratches come from? From washing and waxing. So, the owner is like a dog chasing his tail. Most paints not sealed with clear coat don't chalk if left alone. This has been true since the seventies. Yeah, I know, this is heresy.
