Evo 7 DIY tails done right
Looks very good man, I did the same, but with VHT. I highly recommend wet sanding for longevity. I'll try to post mine up soon. I'm planning to take the lense off so that I can remove the black RTV glue, As you can see evo 7 taillights use clear glue and it really makes a huge difference IMO.
I always regret not going this route, it would of saved me a good chunk of change. The only thing I know I would of screwed up would have been the tape lines. How did you cut and line up the tape so perfectly?
I used 3/16" tape, which was pretty much the same size as the lines in the signal section. Then at the ends, I just eye balled the curve and cut it with a razor. You have to be very soft with the razor, so you dont cut into the plastic and leave marks.
haha, touche!
I am that friend with the real Evo 7 tails. I would just like to say the pictures do no justice. I was a bit skeptical when I saw the pics but after seeing them in person I would say these are the best I've ever seen. At least withought taking them apart. The only obvious difference being the reverse light and the red isn't the exact same. But IMO I still think these look better than any other taillights besides the real JDM ones. The stock 8's are too ricey for me and I'm sick of seeing everyone with the black housings. Very good job man. Definitely worth it, especially if you're trying to save some money.
