Tsidrift1: Evo IX Project.

So, ive wanted to start one of these, just for myself to be able to go back and look at my progress, as well as show off my hard work!

So I got an evo IX about a month ago. I parted out my 1g talon, which I had for 7 years. It was hard, as I had TONS of money into the 1g. In the end though, I am happier with the evo. I normally dont like to buy cars, already modded. This one though, is done nicely. And, money wise, it was a smarter move to get this one, as opposed to a moderately stock one. Drove 10hrs to get her, trailered it back. A buddy and I left at 3 in the morning on a sat, got back at midnight the same night. A whole lot of driving that day!

So for starters, here is a current mod list. Car made 431whp, 392ft. lbs on dyno dynamics, (E85)

2006 Evo IX SSL, 60k miles
Stock block and head.
Buschur turboback exhaust
Precision 1000cc injectors
Spoolinup COP
FP silicone intake
evo 9 bov
Turboxs intercooler
Fujits upper pipes
ETS lower pipes
FP HTA green
Map o2 housing with external dump
GSC S2 cams
Ported exhaust mani
Ported intake mani
MR biltstein shocks
Swift sport springs
Jdm rear
Jdm heads and tails
walbro 255
Exedy Twin
AEM boost, oil press., uego

When I bought her:

its filthy and needs a good detail!

First things on the list was to get rid of the monster 60mm Blitz gauges it had when I bought it. So I sold those, along with the 60mm gruppe-s pod.

I went to STM, picked up a 52mm Gruppe-s pod, and an AEM boost, and oil press. gauges. Already had an aem wb when I bought it.

Then tonight, I finally received my 8 bumper that I am tradin my 9 bumper for. it came greyhound. They are nice and cheap, but damn they take forever! Ill be shipping my 9 bumper out tomorrow to its new owner.
Before:

After: Much better! I have ordered a carbon Do-luck lip as well!

I also have been pondering on what wheels to go with. I have been thinking of 17's, but then evos look just as good with 18's. I originally wanted the sbc rpf1s. But as time went by, i started to think, I want something that fits well, no rubbing, no fender mods, nothing.

I ended up buying a set of 5zigen FN01rc's today. I got a killer deal on them. They are the black with polished lip. IM not too thrilled about the color, but the price I got them for, I couldnt pass them up! I can always have them coated, or I can paint them too. I have also played around in photoshop some. The wheels look 10x better just with the center sprayed black, instead of polished.
Here they are in their original color:

After center is painted black, already look better!

Now the decision is, WHAT TIRES!!! I am def gonna go with at least a 255/35. I have also been looking at 265/35's. These, which I will have to roll the rears for. I am lookig at different tires, basing my decision of price and treadwear. I am gonna do some auto-xing this year, but I want a tire that will last a few years too.

Thats all for now, ill update when new parts come in!

I don't think I've ever seen someone go from a 9 to an 8 front bumper. Always love the EB's.

Yea, I agree, they will def be getting painted in the centers. Although, I have been thinking of painting them a nice dark metallic gunmetal, and leave the polished lip.

I like the 9 bumper, but its to, refined and classy looking. I like the 8 bumper, shows off a big front mount, looks perfect with a do-luck carbon lip. I will also be throwing in some carbon fiber side ducts eventually.

I prefer the IX bumper with the SE lip. But if you do a lip and maybe a nose chop then...

As for tires, you are going to want to do 255/40's or 265/40's. Not a 35 series in a 17. I'm guessing the wheels are 9 inches wide? Maybe +35? If they are, either tire will work and actually the 265/40's are closer to stock overall diameter. Try some Z1's, or even those new Continental DW's.

Got some parts today! I was supposed to have the wheels last week, but due to the weather, they were delayed quite a bit. I also got my Carbon do-luck style lip today. I got it from Basyon-R on ebay. The lip fit pretty much perfect, no complaints here.

As for the wheels, now I really cant figure out what to do with them. At the least, the center polished section will be painted black. But im not sure if I should do that, or just paint the whole wheel another color, leave the lip/paint the lip???? What you guys think?

This is how its supposed to be! 9.5", no goofy hellaflush rim poking out!
