repainting my second set of vlll headlights!!
a couple of weeks ago i sold/traded my already painted headlights for some clearer stock Vlll lights!
Cleaned up the lights with 3M headlight restoring kit

Taking apart the headlights

cleaning every sq inch of the lens

painted the projector housing the same purple as my valve cover and brembos!!

painted the housing krylon gloss black

putting them all back togeather!

You don't have to paint the whole projector housing like he did. All you need to do is put a strip of color on the cutoff plate inside the projector housing. Once you open the housing, you'll see it's the flat piece of metal that goes across the middle of the projector. It's what makes the cutoff line.
Headlights look great BTW!!

dont mean to jack your thread.. but this piece is what i painted on my headlights. but i guess painting the outside does the same thing lol
, like i said you still did a good job, mind me asking what did you use to re seal the headlights? (besides the glue already in it)

i painted the the inside only on my last set of lights, this set i guess i just got into the painting mood and shot the whole thing! lol inside and out.
on the inside it looks like half a bowl, you only need to paint that part. what ever color you paint it thats what color you're projector will look
^^ thats why mine look purple lol

Sorry for the late reply, no u did it right lol. I painting the thing inside and out for no reason lol
Ive done this for a few evo owners after doing it to my own. I modded an adjustable soildering iron with a long flat screw driver tip. I use this and a blowdrier on high heat to pull them apart.
When i reseal i remove all the old grey sealer and run a thick bead of some black silicone that you would use for installing a windsheild. After modding to get the desired look run a thick bead of sealant in the grove and then press the light together. I use a rag dipped in super hot water to wipe off any excess sealer that squeezes out. Then i clamp them together lightly and let the seal dry over night.
Just gotta remember to take your time and move slow and use a high temp paint. Also Its best to have a super clean area to work in because any kitty hair or dust will be stuck in the light forever.
