Polishing my Greddy titanium!
I received my Greddy full titanium racing exhaust last week. I don't plan on putting it on til the future, at least til I can get my hands on a Defi boost gauge! What I am doing in the meantime is polishing it up. I took the advice of the guys who polished their heatshield and intercooler pipe. I use sandpaper and Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish. The results are amazing! I can literally see reflectios in the exhaust now! It will look great under the car once I get it installed.
I just don't like the scratches I see when I look very closely at the finished metal. It is from the sandpaper. Anyway I can get rid of that? Maybe a finer sandpaper? How does one get the mirrired finish like other companies? I want mine to have a finish of, say, the Helix downpipe. The mirror finish. Any feedback would be great! Should I polish with a metal sponge instead of cloths?

Why do companies sell POLISHED stainless steel exhausts? Why do people buy them? Why are some of the high end companies such as Helix and Perrin selling polished downpipes? Why is Vishnu's full turbo back exhaust polished. I am just like any old enthusiast who wants a high quality piece on my car. Polished rims get dirty also. Thanks.
work your way down all the way till wetsanding with the finest sandpaper u can get....then use a buffer and polish the hell out of it...i come from the world of vw's where everythin has to be polished under the hood

Thank you boostCreep! Finally someone with info I can use. Your tips make sense. Yeah the sandpaper I am using is pretty coarse, I just need to finish it with finer sandpaper. I guess I can't get as good results by hand. Buffing I mean. True, polished doesn't mean high quality. I am just saying that a majority of exhaust components are polished and that is what many people look for. Actually the exhaust is visible if you look from behind, especially the muffler. Also a smooth surface makes it easier to clean. Thanks again!

one of the benefits of titanium is the look it has...and you ruined it by sanding it and polishing it (IMO)...titanium has a certain look to it that i find desireable...i would rather have that look on my car then bling bling but thats just me
If you want to get rid of the scratches, go to a coarser sandpaper till u have no more scratches, THEN go with more finer and finer sandpaper, by the time ur done u shud have no visible scratches of any kind.
And yea that mothers stuff is great.
Post pics if u can, good luck!
