Back in the game--Evo VIII GSR WW!

My wife and I are back in the game! Yesterday we purchased a 2005 Evo VIII GSR WW. It has just under 50k miles and is bone stock. After the holidays we plan on starting the mod'n process with BR, STM and ToxicFab parts. We previously had a 2006 Evo IX SE, had all the bolt-ons and what not, and my dumbass ended up blowing the engine. Learned a valuable lesson and won't ever repeat that mistake again. Anyways, we are excited to have another Evo and can't wait to make it fast!

Awesome! I just did the same thing lol (except I didn't blow it up)!! Had an 06 TB IX, sold it to buy a house and now I just got an 03 WW with some goodies already on it! Plus insurance is cheaper lol!!

It wasn't fully tuned, I decided one night to go do a high speed run, and at around 160 and 7000 RPMs cylinder #2 went lean and I melted the piston. The cylinder wall got a nasty gash too. I ended up parting out the whole car and sold it. Wasted $20k when it was all said and done.

Won't repeat that mistake.

Congrats on buying another Evo. I don't quite see how dumping your money into a 2nd heavily modded evo is avoiding making the same mistake twice... but good luck to you regardless!

The feeling of having wasted money on the last Evo is simply because I got stupid and blew the engine. I didn't the the money at the time to rebuild it so I said screw it and parted it out.

Welcome back with a super clean evo! I love white. What is the list of mods planned?

Gonna mod it in phases; something like:

Phase 1: TBD injectors, BR double pumper, BR fuel rail, BR MBC, convert to SD, dual tune (91 and E85). Goal: 350/350 on E85 and RRE's dyno

Phase 2: BR mini battery kit, BR race intercooler, BR UICP/LICP, BR downpipe, BR test pipe, BR cat-back exhaust, ToxicFab 02 dump, ARP headstuds, TBD cams, TBD clutch, retune. Goal: 450/375 on E85 and RRE's dyno

Phase 3: build engine/tranny/t-case, TBD turbo, TBD turbo manifold, TBD intake manifold, TBD throttle body, BR lightweight mods. Goal: 700/550 on E85 and RRE's dyno

This is all speculation at this point and some of the mods/phases will likely change. Problem is this Evo is very slow compared to our last and my wife and I are hungry for a decent power bump.

First mods while deciding on others:

MBC
Tune

You can wait on everything else and this will give you the extra kick in the mean time! It's amazing how much better it feels even when "stock".
