Satin Graphite Gray Evo IX MR

First Satin (factory) Graphite Gray Evo IX?

I sprayed it myself, and it came out better than I had hoped. His winter wheels are on the car now, so they will be going gloss black. I think it'll really contrast well with the satin finish.

Here are some pics;

Before (when we picked up the car) -

After -

I'm sorry. It's one thing to satin-paint a wreck, but this car's factory finish looked pretty good. Looked is the operative term. Now the finish is shot. Can't erase paint.

I guess it's a good time to mention that it's 100% reversible.

This is clear matte plasti-dip over the factory graphite gray, and it's 100% removable. The reason behind this was to protect the paint over the winter, because it is my brother's daily driver. I already removed one panel (the drivers door -because of runs), and resprayed it. It comes off easy as hell, the paint is unscathed underneath, and it will protect the paint over the winter.

Think of it as a full clear bra.

How much did you have to use? Do you just tape off the glass and plastic? how long does it take to lay down, then cure?

I used a gallon (3 coats). I will probably add a 4th coat just for protection; plus I bought 3 gallons.

Yes, I taped off the windows, wheels, etc.

Since its been cold up here (20's at night), it took about 25 mins between coats. As soon as it's done drying, it's cured.

Hard to tell just from pics because GG is a high metallic paint. Any body panels that aren't at the same angle can look different. Look at the front doors vs the front fenders. It's not that the paint doesn't match, it's the way the light is reflecting. I run in to this a lot with customers
