DIY Overflow Fabrication
not sure where this would get the best results but since its for showing off i guess it will do just fine here... im pretty handy when it comes to welding and recently started an obsession with cleaning up my engine bay and stumbled upon these at STM now i dont want to jack their credit because their pieces look amazing but i would like to try and make my own only problem im running into is where do you get the weld on cap and adapter??? like these

I fail to see how spending 40 bucks on a cap and maybeeee another 30 bucks on some aluminum when I can weld it all together myself and have the exact same piece would not be better then buying one for 150 bucks???

the overflow does not go back to the radiator?? it is incase the level gets to high in the radiator it can push the excess water out which gets pushed into the "overflow" then when the overflow gets to high it dump that water onto the ground via the overflow hose, go look at your stock one... so yes i actually can have an overflow without going back to the radiator but will need to create a dumpe tube exactly like what STM did in theirs...

Really you make an 'expansion' tank, not an overflow tank. So the coolant can expand into the tank, and contract back into the radiator, suck the coolant back out of your tank, that is the proper way to make it, just like the stock tank. Otherwise its just an overflow tank, something to catch coolant from puking all over the place, but will not replace the lost coolant in your system.
I have another place to get caps, I'll have to find it.
