Paint coming off of Blue Evo

I have a blue 2003 Evo. I was using some swirl remover (same stuff that is in cleaner wax) today. I have used it before on the entire car and get some great results. However I was using it on my mirrors (the paint..) and got blue on my cloth. Same happened on both mirrors. I tried other parts of the car and everything was fine. I only get paint rubbing off on the mirrors. Did Mitsubishi forget to clear coat the mirrors or are they suppose to be like that?

Using Mequires swirl remover 2.0 and gold class wax.

It's hard to beleive that they didn't clear the mirrors, but I guess it's possible.

I've heard the Rally Red doesn't come with a clear coat. Not sure how true that is.

Same thing with mine. Was using Meguires cleaner wax to get off alittle brush with some bushes driving on Tantilus drive and got some paint on my rag. Still looks good however.

i have a blue evo also and looking at the paint it doesnt look like it has a clear coat. i spilled a little gas by the filler door and dabbed it off with a paper towel and the towel was blue. that never happened with my eclipse and i know that had a clear coat

i shouldnt be that bad. it will probably keep its shine almost as long as a clear coat finish if you use good quality waxes and sealer

From: houston tx,
the evo DOESN'T have a clear coat?!?!?!?!?! wtf?! A 30k dollar car doesn't have clear coat... thats seriously effed up. I don't care how "performance oriented" the evo is, thats just ridiculous. My friends $9k brand new saturn has clear coat...

No clear coat sounds like a myth to me. I'd be shocked if a manufacturer didn't put clear coat on their cars these days...I mean hell, doesn't the base Lancer have clear coat?!

No clear coat? This definitely is a "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of thing.

The rest of the car has a clear coat, just not the mirrors. I put a few calls into a few dealers, if they do not get back to me, I'll call the tech line.

I've had the same problem. The rag turns blue from the mirrors, but nowhere else on the car. I get this from just plain wax.
